What to Watch - April 4, 2013

Eleven games on day 4 of the 2013 season. Here are my choices:

1) Angels at Reds, 12:35 EDT - Game one was an Angels victory in 13 innings. Last night the Reds won on a Joey Votto single in the bottom of the ninth. The rubber match is bound to be entertaining.

2) Orioles at Rays, 3:10 EDT - Another series that will decided this afternoon. The Rays walked-off yesterday on Matt Joyce’s 9th inning homer. Monday the Orioles out-slugged their division opponent.

3) Mariners at A’s, 12:35 PDT - Opening with a four-game divisional match-up the A’s can end up splitting with the Mariners with a win this afternoon. The losing team hasn’t scored more than two runs in any of the first three games.

4) Royals at White Sox, 1:10 CDT - White Sox starters have given up one run to the Royals in 13.2 innings. Gavin Floyd is on the mound.

5) Tigers at Twins, 12:10 CDT - Phil Coke lost yesterday’s game which immediately begins of the discussion of “bullpen by committee won’t work!” Maybe we’ll find out today.

6) Marlins at Nationals, 4:05 EDT - Nats can sweep the Marlins. Marlins could score a run - because they haven’t yet.

7) Phillies at Braves, 7:10 EDT - Cliff Lee will try to win the first game of the season the for the Phillies. The Braves try to continue their offensive onslaught having scored 16 runs in the first two games.

8) Indians at Blue Jays, 7:07 EDT - Starting the season 0-3 is not the end for the Blue Jays, but it does make Ozzie Guillen feel better.

9) Red Sox at Yankees, 7:05 EDT - Red Sox could sweep the Yankees in the Bronx. 29 teams rejoice. Andy Pettitte tries to stop the bleeding.

10) Cubs at Pirates, 12:35 EDT - Afternoon baseball between rivals for a rubber game. Why not?

11) Padres at Mets, 1:10 EDT - The last time the Mets started 3-0? 2012. And for those who think I’ve unfairly ranked the Mets’ games, they play the Marlins beginning tomorrow. Not an improvement.
