What to Watch - Opening Day, Part II

The last four teams who have yet to start the 2013 season take the field today as MLB continues to make Opening Day into Opening Week. Just as  I did yesterday I will rank today’s games:

1) Orioles at Rays, 3:10 EDT, As mentioned yesterday the AL East is looking like it’s ripe for the taking from the Yankees and Red Sox. The Orioles try to prove they weren’t just “lucky” last year and the Rays again audition for the whatever city will have them once MLB realizes that Tampa was a mistake.

2) Giants at Dodgers, 7:10 PDT, This could have easily been number one but since it was ranked 1 yesterday (and it was a heckuva game) I’ll arbitrarily place it second. Rivalries between two teams playing well are the best.

3) Cardinals at D’backs, 6:40 PDT, Last night D’backs won the matchup of NL playoff contenders, 6-2. It was Arizona’s seventh straight Opening Day victory.

4) TIE

Rangers at Astros, 7:10 CDT, Even brand-new division rivalries are worth the time. The red-hot Astros (one win in their last one game) versus the struggling Rangers (one game losing streak) should be enjoyable. And whenever you can watch an Iranian-Japanese pitcher, you should.

Mariners at A’s, 7:05 PDT, More American League West excitement. Yesterday King Felix shutout the Athletics, 2-0. Today? Well, they play again.

6) Indians at Blue Jays, 7:07 EDT, (The game starts at 7:07 because of the Canadian time exchange rate, I believe.) The Blue Jays, formerly known as the Miami Marlins, haven’t started a season with expectations this high since 1993. The Indians are re-building, so. Note: R.A. Dickey was the 4th Cy Young Award winner to be traded the same year he won the award, joining David Cone, Pedro Martinez, and Clemens.

7) Rockies at Brewers, 7:10 CDT, Game two of the opening series. Maybe you can watch John Axford blow another save!
